Head of Information Security

NENT is a highly innovative and technology driven organisation with a large content portfolio and a track record of building and operating international media platforms including Viaplay, Viafree and Viasat. As a consequence, NENT maintains a solid information security intrusion and content protection platform to support, manage and mitigate cyber risk, technical resilience and performance of our businesses. We are therefore looking for a Head of Information Security to drive our Information Security Program and to support the resilience and performance across the group.

The Position

The Head of Information Security is responsible for the development, maintenance and oversight of the information security programme across Nent Group; and communicates strategies, policies and guidelines. It is a group wide responsibility that span our TV, radio, streaming and content businesses. The Head of Information Security is a coordinating function with the responsibility and mandate to review, consult, request and instruct local security, technology or IT professionals on preferred actions and tactics. He or she works independently across the organisation, in a collaborative spirit. The role works closely with the Group Risk and Security function and Group Head of IT, and reports independently to the Group CTO. The daily work includes close collaboration with locally based IT security coordinators and security champions with whom he or she will execute information security audits, support related incident management and continuous platform improvements.

Our Information Security Program, which span across on-premise and cloud environments

in the Nordics and in the UK, includes proactive activities such as information security awareness training, C2M2 assessments, IT penetration testing, and GDPR/IT security audits. The role also supports Risk and Security with information security subject matter expertise with regard to crisis management and cyber incident investigations. The Head of Information Security runs the group information security program and decide on what activities to perform, when and by whom. Finally, the role also incorporates responsibility for supporting the improvement of our content protection solutions and anti-piracy activities.  The role will participate in the Content Protection Working Group and support the Content Protection programme which is managed by Risk and Security, Head of Security Operations

The Challenge ahead

The individual is expected to execute the following tasks:


  • Develop, align and communicate information security strategies
  • Develop, maintain and communicate information security policies and guidelines.
  • Manage the group’s Information Security Program
  • Participate and support the group’s network of security champions
  • Agree individual information security plans for each business unit
  • Apply IT penetration testing, data scanning, C2M2 and similar models to continuously evaluate each business unit’s cyber and information risk and exposure
  • Work closely with Group Risk and Security, IT and Technical Operations to continuously improve our information security of our corporate environment
  • Work closely with Product & Engineering to continuously improve our information security of our production environments
  • Work closely with our GDPR and Compliancy teams to ensure we comply with laws and guidelines
  • Support anti-piracy activities and content protective measures through the Content Protection Working Group
  • Support GDPR and other compliance workstreams
  • Perform information security training sessions (e.g. e-learning)
  • Provide investigative support regarding cyber attacks
  • Conduct CCMM Modelling or similar and perform related audits on a periodic basis.
  • Act as senior advisor to applicable internal committees regarding controls and mitigation strategies
  • Provide comprehensive analysis of groups exposure to information security risks

What we are looking for

We are looking for someone with extensive experience from information security and data protection schemes, who is used to coordinating vast information security programmes across large IT environments. Candidates are typically information security experts with a background in engineering, auditing or law and with a great interest in information security and technology. Candidates may have previous experience from C2M2 or similar information security frameworks and may have worked hands on with information security training or intrusion/penetration testing prior to taking on a more senior/administrative role.

General skills include:


  • Master of science/ law or other relevant degree
  • Related professional qualifications (E.g. Certified Information Security Manager ‘CISM’)
  • Communication and presentation, to be both the subject matter expert and advocate for risk management in the group’s product and technology management
  • Policy development and administration
  • Planning and strategic management
  • Leadership, collaboration and conflict resolution
