Data Scientist

The position

As a Data Scientist you will work closely with different parts of the organization, helping colleagues and decision makers better understand how our service is used. You will help us develop metrics to enhance the development of features and products that better serve our customers needs and help our customers get all they can out of Viaplay.

This will be done through analysis of available data, requirements for new data points to be tracked and used for statistical modelling.

You will work together in a team with other Analysts and Data Scientists where we share knowledge and experience and help each other solve problems and grow as a team. You will be given many opportunities to grow your own knowledge in the area working with senior colleagues. The work involves both smaller and larger analyses done on request from the business but there is also a strong mandate and expectation to be forward looking and explore new ways of thinking about our data, customers and product.

  • You will be able to use and develop your analytical competence on massive amounts of data. As a data scientist you will help our business areas develop their understanding of product usage, customer behaviour, and more.
  • Our technology stack offers great opportunities to showcase and develop your data science skills. You will work on the Hadoop stack using SQL interfaces to the data. We mainly use R to analyse and visualise data but Scala in combination with Spark is also an option. We aspire to work with an open mindset and to encourage creativity and upskilling in order to maintain cutting edge quality in our data science work.

What we are looking for

You have a background in statistical analysis and modelling with at least two years of relevant  work life experience. You are also interested in or have experience with machine learning and data mining. If you have previous experience working with mobile and web data, that’s a big plus. You think data and have a good intuition regarding what is important, from a business perspective, and how the available information can be used to answer new and interesting questions.
